On Buying Less

Missou was built around a simple idea. Maker fewer things, but make them properly. 

It started because I kept buying almost pieces...almost the right weight, almost the right cut, almost worth keeping. I was buying more and wearing less. The first Missou pieces were made for myself. In fabrics sourced from Japan and Italy, cut in ways that made sense to me, handcrafted in a family run Melbourne studio or finished by me.

The no restock rule wasn't a marketing decision. It was a natural consequence of how Missou is made. Every piece is a limited run. When it's gone, it's gone permanently. 

What we've noticed is that the people who buy Missou tend to keep things. In two years, I'm sure we'll still see them in the Ellis camisole or the Domencia maxi. That the piece they bought for one occasion is became the piece they'll reach for constantly. 

That's what we're making for. Not a wardrobe full of almost right pieces but one piece that is exactly right.
